The Civil Society and Community Engagement Division of the African Development Bank organized the 2022 edition of the Civil Society Forum on 6-7 October in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The theme of this year's event was "Engaging Civil Society for Climate Resilience and a Just Energy Transition in Africa". The event was held in a hybrid format – in person and virtually.
About the Afdb CSO Forum
The Forum is part of the African Development Bank‘s ongoing dialogue with civil society and its theme echoes the Afdb’s commitment to climate change and energy transition. Civil society members and representatives from across the continent, climate change champions and ambassadors, and representatives of international institutions and governments, were present. Among them, AVSI representatives brought our experience on the field to address climate change and energy transition in Africa.

We also organized the online event “From talk to action: enhancing African communities resilience to the impacts of climate change in Mozambique, Uganda and Kenya”. We were pleased to guest Alessandro Modiano, Special Envoy for Climate Change of Italy. In his speech, he recognized the CSOs as a key actor in addressing the global challenge of climate change and commended AVSI work in Kenya, Uganda and DRC as a partner of MITE in the Ministry’s bilateral and multilateral projects.
