In many parts of Côte d'Ivoire, long distances between communities and schools, combined with difficult travel conditions, limit the frequency of monitoring visits by pedagogical advisors. Their work includes observing classroom activities, supporting teachers, and gathering information that helps improve the functioning of the education system.
To facilitate school visits, on 30 October AVSI delivered 150 motorcycles to Côte d'Ivoire's Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education. Thanks to these new vehicles, pedagogical advisors will be able to plan field activities more regularly and maintain closer contact with teachers.
“We are not simply handing over motorcycles; we are strengthening the education system's ability to reach every school, including those in the most remote areas. By providing pedagogical advisors with the means to be more present in the field, we aim to improve teacher supervision and the quality of education,” said Bamba Lassiné, AVSI Country Representative in Côte d'Ivoire.
The REUSSIR project
The motorcycle handover is part of REUSSIR ("Strengthening the Quality of the Primary Education System in Côte d'Ivoire"), implemented by AVSI with funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The project is among the initiatives supported under the Italian Mattei Plan for Africa.
