• Functionally report to AVSI Congo country representative for each specific local/field issue concerning the WP

The main role of the Project Manager is to provide overall project management with technical expertise to all activities relating to the implementation of the work program (WP) “Feasibility study for Integrated carbon offset (ICO) project - Congo Republic” financed and implemented in partnership with a major Italian company. The Project Manager has the key responsibility of coordinating and ensuring the successful implementation and targets’ achievements of the WP within July 15th, 2026.
This initiative aims at assessing the technical, economical and legal aspects of a future intervention/project concerning Improved forest management (IFM), pellets production from IFM waste, pyrolytic stoves distribution to vulnerable families and carbon credits production.
The analysis should incorporate any and all the requirements necessary to draft a Climate Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCB)/Triple Gold, Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD Vista) and Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Project Description (PD) document for the Project.
The WP will include the following milestones: Preliminary Activities; Technical analysis; Social impact analysis; Legal and governance analysis; Economical analysis; Full project proposal; Monitoring Plan.
Net salary: 2.300 monthly.

Principali compiti e responsabilità

• Supervise and have the final responsibility for the implementation of all the Feasibility Study activities in accordance with the projected/approved WP, budget, financial planning and time schedule;
• Be responsible for the achievement of all WP targets and key performance indicators;
• Elaborate (in English) all narrative reports and deliverables as per WP and for donor requests;
• Supervise the recruitment, orientation and training of the dedicated staff;
• Supervise projects staff, strengthen their capacity, autonomy and sense of responsibility; and contribute to their further professional development;
• Supervise and coordinate the contributions of all sector and thematic leads and external consultants;
• Proactively support the preparation of financial reports including the collection and verification of the relevant project documentation;
• Be responsible for the application of AVSI logistic and administrative procedures for the assigned WP in Italy and support AVSI Congo Operations Manager and Country Representative for the application of AVSI Congo operations manual;
• Ensure quality and sustainability of project(s) results through strategic and operational planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (continuous improvement);
• Promote nexuses and synergies with other national and international projects, programs, interventions.
• Elaborate any other reports as required by AVSI, local authorities and/or donor and/or the selected international standard (e.g. VERRA);
• Maintain and develop proactive relationships with partners, local authorities and with all stakeholders involved;
• Share within AVSI worldwide network the most significant experiences and lessons learnt together with the thematic focal point;
• Carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requisiti essenziali

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environment and/or Energy studies, Rural Development, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies or other related fields of study from a recognized university.
• Master’s degree in relevant field would be an added advantage

Work experience:
• At least 2 years of experience in Africa’s development/Humanitarian context
• At least 2 year of experience in Clean cooking or Improved forest management and carbon credits sector in Africa

Language proficiency:
• Proficient knowledge of Italian, English and French (written and oral) C1.

Competenze ed esperienze richieste

• Experience in conducting surveys, monitoring activities, managing data and statistics according to VERRA (or Gold Standard, or CDM) standard including social impacts
• Proficient knowledge of the standard IT software
• Strong organizational skills and able to coordinate and manage a diverse array of activities and stakeholder
• Strong negotiation and mediation skills and ability to work independently
• Report writing and computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, power point presentation and Internet
• Experience in working in rural economic development or business development is desirable
• Commercial and technical knowledge of carbon finance protocols is desirable
• Willingness to travel and work in rural areas
