The Finance and Compliance Coordinator supports the effective management and supervision of the Country Office’s accounting, financial reporting, and compliance processes, with particular attention to data integrity, accurate and timely reporting, and compliance with AVSI procedures, donor requirements, and applicable regulations.
The position supervises the correct implementation of accounting processes and the use of the NAVISION accounting system, coordinates periodic financial closing processes, and supports compliance during internal and external audits. The role reviews and analyses financial data to support management and project teams in informed decision-making and contributes to the continuous improvement of financial and administrative processes. The position provides technical supervision and guidance on accounting and financial processes.
Finance and Compliance Coordinator (National Position)
Principali compiti e responsabilità
1. Accounting Software Management:
• Supervise the correct and timely use of the NAVISION accounting system and contribute to its effective implementation and optimisation.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records through validation, regular review, and reconciliation of transactions.
• Review accounting entries and allocations and provide technical guidance to accountants where corrections or adjustments are required.
• Monitor the completeness and consistency of accounting documentation and financial data.
2. Financial Reporting:
• Coordinate the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, potential risks, and areas requiring management attention.
• Update and review project budget monitoring tools and provide relevant financial information to project coordinators and managers to support decision-making.
• Coordinate the timely preparation of donor financial reports, ensuring consistency between accounting records, supporting documentation, and donor requirements.
3. Compliance and AUDIT:
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of donor requirements, AVSI internal procedures, and applicable regulations relevant to financial and accounting processes.
• Review financial and accounting processes to identify potential compliance issues and support the implementation of corrective measures.
• Support internal and external audits, working closely with auditors and relevant staff to ensure the timely provision of required documentation, information, and explanations.
• Support the implementation and follow-up of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain documentation of accounting procedures to promote consistency, compliance, and adherence to applicable standards and best practices.
4. General Accounting:
• Coordinate and supervise the preparation of monthly, semi-annual, and annual accounting closing processes, ensuring their accuracy and timely completion.
• Review periodic reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other relevant balance-sheet accounts.
• Monitor Country Office and project cash-flow requirements and liquidity needs.
• Coordinate the preparation of project fund requests to donors and/or AVSI headquarters, as applicable.
• Identify accounting discrepancies or financial issues and support their timely resolution in coordination with the relevant staff and supervisors.
5. Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes.
• Recommend and implement improvements to streamline departmental operations, including administrative and logistics management.
Requisiti essenziali
• University degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience with accounting/ERP software; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/NAVISION is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial monitoring tools.
• Good command of written and spoken English and French.
• Ability to work accurately with financial data and meet reporting deadlines.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, financial reporting, or compliance, preferably within NGOs, international organisations, or donor-funded projects.
