The display of small colorful wooden works made by primary school children from the rural communities of Alacra, Chocho and Sinnalo was the centerpiece of a celebration held on Tuesday, July 9, in the public park of the Sánchez Magallanes community in Tabasco State, Mexico, to mark the end of the school year, in the presence of local civil authorities.
To the visitors who came from AVSI's headquarters in Milan and the Latin America regional office in Salvador, Brazil, the children presented their works made during the craft workshops curated as part of PROEDU, an educational project co-financed by Eni, which has been working for almost four years in 13 elementary schools, with 1,500 children and 60 teachers.
On the occasion, the AVSI delegation, together with Sandra Maqueda, Victor de la Cruz, Juan Miguel Castelo of Eni Mexico Sustainability, also met and talked with the operators and beneficiaries of PROVENES, a project for the educational accompaniment of adolescents and young people aged 15 to 24, co-financed by Eni, which offers a series of activities and workshops both in the educational center built within the municipal park itself, and in the mobile unit that reaches several communities in zone 46.
The festive morning, enlivened by traditional music and dances prepared under the direction of local volunteers, involved many young people with their families, who thanks to these projects know a new way of experiencing common spaces, participating in various educational and aggregative opportunities, proposing events or trainings in their turn, and thus becoming protagonists of development.
