On Monday 30 June, the newly appointed Board convened and appointed Patrizia Savi as President, Giampaolo Silvestri as Secretary General and Daniele Sacco as Vice President of the Foundation.
“I am grateful to the Founding Members and the Board of Directors for their renewed trust,” said Patrizia Savi. “I am proud to be able to continue contributing to AVSI’s mission. After more than 50 years of activity, AVSI is recognized as one of the leading Italian organizations in the third sector. I am committed to ensuring that AVSI continues to distinguish itself through the added value of its vision: working for a world where every person, aware of their value and dignity, can be the protagonist of their own integral development and that of their community, even in crisis and emergency contexts.
“I am honored for the renewed trust placed in me,” commented Giampaolo Silvestri, Secretary General. “We are entering a particularly challenging time for development cooperation actors. In the face of shrinking public development aid budgets, we are called to explore new avenues of co-design and co-programming with institutions, the private sector, the philanthropic world, and academia. This is especially true in the context of forgotten crises – where AVSI is actively engaged – where we feel an even greater urgency to uphold the dignity of every individual and foster the development of communities, while remaining true to our mission. Only by doing so will we be equipped to respond effectively to the challenges we encounter in the field and capable of competing with the world’s largest international organizations – without ever losing our identity or the strength of our founding values.”
