With a launch event taking place today, 28 April, in Rabat, Morocco, and a second event scheduled for 30 April in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, AVSI officially kicks off the INNOVE project, an initiative funded by the European Union under the AMIF programme (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund).
The INNOVE project, which builds on and further develops successful previous experiences on the same theme, aims to raise awareness among potential migrants of the risks associated with irregular migration. The initiative focuses in particular on Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco, key countries of origin and transit for migration flows towards Europe.
INNOVE seeks to provide clear and reliable information about Europe and the risks linked to irregular migration routes, to promote awareness of available legal pathways for migration, and to engage local stakeholders in fostering development opportunities in countries of origin.
The project is implemented by AVSI in partnership with Soleterre, Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, Ballafon, CeVI and Proyecto Solidario.
AVSI, long committed to working on migration issues, is honoured to lead this European Union–funded initiative, which aims to shed light on the living conditions of migrants in an irregular situation and on the risks linked to migratory journeys. The project seeks to counter distorted perceptions of Europe, which often fuel risky decisions, while at the same time promoting opportunities offered by legal migration pathways
