AVSI Project Manager for RISE Project

AVSI Foundation, an NGO created in 1972, carries out cooperation projects for development, with a particular emphasis on education.
AVSI Foundation has been operating in Jordan since 2006 and contributed in supporting the most vulnerable local communities, Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees through providing projects and activities that focus on social protection, health and psycho-social assistance, education, vocational training and job placement and income-generating activities.
“RISE: Revitalizing Initiatives for Sustainable Empowerment in Cultural Heritage” is a two-year project funded by the European Union.
The project aims to improve the livelihoods of women, youth, and vulnerable groups in Makawer and Rihab, while preserving and promoting initiatives in tangible and intangible cultural heritage, strengthening local capacities for sustainable tourism, cultural heritage enhancement and entrepreneurship.
The Field Officer in Makawer will be responsible of coordinating the implementation of the activities in the targeted area. Given the limited presence of humanitarian and development actors in the target area, the Field Officer is expected to play a key role in adapting project approaches to the local context, strenghtening community engagement, and supporting local stakeholders in understanding and engaging with project methodologies.
This position is based in Makawer, the main project implementation site. Preference will be given to candidates residing in the area or those able to ensure a reliable daily commute to the project location.

Principali compiti e responsabilità

The main responsabilities including but not limited to:
• Act as AVSI’s focal point in the area, maintaining regular communication with local authorities, associations, and community stakeholders, lead stakeholders mapping and engagement strategy in the area and build and maintain strategic relationships with local authorities and community leaders;
• Coordinate closely with AVSI’s partner FPEC in the implementation of the project activities, selection of beneficiaries and ensuring good project implementation practices are being followed;
• Develop and follow weekly/monthly activity plans for the project, with keeping track of work plan in coordination with and reporting to Project Manager to ensure that the activities are executed as per the shared calendar;
• Coordinate the implementation of project activities in the area, working closely with project staff, partners, and local authorities to ensure timely, quality delivery;
• Identify, analyze and proactively mitigate operational risks and bottlenecks while proposing solutions and corrective actions to the Project Manager;
• Support and supervision of the youth contracted for the mapping, collection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage data and digitalization initiatives, ensuring the accuracy of the data collected;
• Support the selection and follow-up of trainees, coordinate all logistics for trainings (hospitality, catering, digital skills, business, language, etc.), and monitor attendance and results (to be reported to MEAL dept. and the PM);
• Support the Implementing Partner in identifying and assisting MSMEs, home-based businesses, and local associations to join project activities, coordinate with AVSI Logistics Department and the PM the delivery of equipment, in-kind support, and business capacity building, and follow up on specific interventions;
• Monitor progress of supported MSMEs and assess sustainability of initiatives, while providing support in market linkages;

Requisiti essenziali

• Proven experience in coordinating field-based activities, community work, or local initiatives (NGO experience is an asset);
• Bachelor Degree in relevant subject (Cultural Heritage, Social Work, Development or Humanitarian Studies, etc.);
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Arabic;
• Strong organizational and team working skills;
• Leadership.

• Experience working with governmental entities, local communities, youth groups or grassroots initiatives;
• Experience in supervising, coordinating, and monitoring field activities and staff;
• Strong reporting and communication skills, with the ability to mobilize and engage stakeholders effectively;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is an asset;
• Strong willingness and ability to learn and adapt to NGO systems and procedures;
• Ability to work under pressure and operate independently when needed;
• Flexible team player with strong interpersonal skills;
• Proficiency in MS Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and basic data collection tools.
