LINFA: work and integration between Tunisia and Italy through regular migration

Training, employment, and cooperation between companies and institutions to respond to the needs of the Italian labour market and facilitate the integration of Tunisian workers

Date 13.05.2026

Between Tunisia and Italy, AVSI implemented the project LINFA – Work and Integration. New Frontiers for the Future, supported by Fondazione nazionale delle comunicazioni - Gi Group, with the aim of fostering the match between the demand for skilled labour from Italian companies and the supply of competencies from Tunisian citizens through regular migration channels.

The project, lasting 12 months, involves 15 Tunisian workers assigned to professional roles as forklift operators and warehouse workers, profiles that are currently difficult to find in the Italian labour market. LINFA operates between Tunisia and Italy, leveraging a broad network of partners: Gi Group, ANETI (Tunisian National Employment Agency), ATFP (Tunisian Agency for Vocational Training), San Martino, Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis, and INCA CGIL.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to strengthening the Italian productive system through a structured pre-departure training pathway, which integrates professional skills, language preparation, and civic and cultural knowledge.

In particular, LINFA trains Tunisian citizens in the specific skills required by companies, facilitating their integration and access to employment in Italian productive contexts.

The phases of the LINFA project

The first phase, in Tunisia, includes the selection of beneficiaries and a pathway of vocational training in the logistics sector, alongside modules on workers’ rights, occupational health and safety, and an extensive programme of Italian language learning.

This is followed by a phase of mobility preparation, with civic education courses, life skills development, and information sessions focused on expatriation procedures and entry requirements for Italy.

The third phase supports beneficiaries during mobility and labour market integration, including assistance with visas and administrative procedures, as well as employment with Italian companies.

With LINFA, AVSI strengthens its commitment to promoting orderly, safe, and sustainable labour migration pathways, based on collaboration between civil society, companies, and institutions, and aimed at responding concretely to the needs of both countries of origin and destinati
