On June 16th there was the opening of the exhibition "Generating Beauty: New Beginnings at the Ends of the Earth", at Palais des Nations of UNOG.

The exhibition tells AVSI's work in Kenya, Ecuador and Brazil and it was curated by the irish journalist and writer John Waters. The event was promoted by AVSI thanks to the support of the Permanent mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in Geneva, in the framework of the 29th session of the Human Rights Council. Participants to the opening were: President of the Human Rights Council and ambassadors of Italy, Kenya and Ecuador.

"These photographs take us on a journey through some of the most impoverished regions of Ecuador, Kenya and Brazil, illustrating AVSI's laudable efforts to improve the education of disadvantaged children. There can be no doubt that sustainable development post-2015 begins with education, but education must do more than teach children how to read, write and count. It should provide them with the tools they need to reach their full potential, to empower them to become leaders and to face the challenges to the 21st century". It was part of the speech that Michael Møller, Director-General, a.i. of the United Nations Office at Geneva, made to introduce the exhibit.
