The Project Manager has the key responsibility of coordinating and ensuring the successful implementation and targets’ achievements of the clean cooking project in Sierra Leone and of other future projects in the same sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Supervise and have the final responsibility for the implementation of all project activities in accordance with the projected/approved proposal, budget, financial planning and time schedule in concert with Clean Cooking Thematic Lead
• Be responsible for the achievement of all project targets and key performance indicators
• Contribute to the recruitment, orientation and training of the projects’ staff
• Coordinate projects staff, strengthen their capacity, autonomy and sense of responsibility; and contribute to their further professional development
• Be responsible for the application of AVSI logistic, safety & security, communication and administrative procedures for the assigned projects portfolio in concert with Operations Manager, Country Representative and, for any specific donor’s requirements, with the Clean Cooking Thematic Lead
• Promote nexuses and synergies with other national and international projects, programs, interventions
• Monitor, evaluate, systematize and report the progress of the projects’ achievements
• Collect and verify the project documentation necessary for the presentation of reports to the donor; elaborate narrative reports as per donor procedures; and proactively support the preparation of financial reports
• Elaborate any other reports as required by AVSI, local authorities and/or donor
• Maintain and develop proactive relationships with donors, partners, local authorities and with all stakeholders involved
• Periodically interact with HQs Thematic Leads for coordinating and sharing new strategies, innovations, lessons learnt, criticalities, trainings, workshops, etc. concerning the sector/theme
• Share within AVSI worldwide network the most significant experiences and lessons learnt in concert with Clean Cooking Thematic Lead and the relevant thematic leads
• Represent AVSI in relevant sectorial (energy) coordination structures (i.e. Clusters and Working groups) and other meetings at provincial/national level
• Contribute to the donor’s programming process and proposal for contracting purpose and identify new funding opportunities also with other donors and programmes in concert with Country Program Director, CR and relevant Thematic Lead
• Carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environment and/or Energy studies, Rural Development, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies or other related fields of study from a recognized university
• Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage
Work experience:
• At least 2 years of experience in a development/humanitarian context
• At least 1 year of experience in clean cooking projects in Africa
Language proficiency:
• Proficiency in English (written and oral), C1 level.
