Lucia Castelli graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1981, specialized in pediatrics, nutrition sciences, master in health education. She worked in Italy as pediatrician both in hospital and as medical practitioner with families and in schools.
In 1994 she started her collaboration with AVSI working in Africa until 2012 as coordinator of emergency intervention projects for children in conflict situations (in particular in Rwanda and Uganda) and in Middle East from September 2016 to August 2018. She is the main author of the psychosocial manuals produced in AVSI, addressed to volunteer counselors, teachers, caregivers and educators.
Lucia Castelli is currently the Child Protection Focal Point for AVSI worldwide.
