The electrical material distribution company sponsors 250 children through AVSI's project

Colam Sustainability Awards

This year Sacchi Group, leader in the distribution of electrical materials in Northern Italy, took part to the Colam Sustainability Awards contest, an event created by Sonepar Group to highlight the initiatives of the many companies around the world that belong to the group and that are making an impact on environmental, inclusive and social issues.

Sacchi Group has always shown a distinctive sensitivity to social issues, supporting numerous humanitarian projects in Italy and around the world, and for over 15 years it has been working with the AVSI Foundation.

The AVSI and Sacchi for social issues project is aimed at giving tangible help through the support of 250 children at a distance. It won the "Social Award" of the Colam Sustainability Awards, after being evaluated together with thirty other international applications.

Marco Brunetti, CEO of the Sacchi Group, stated that the award, "for all of us, represents a recognition full of emotions. The prize awarded to us - worth € 5,000.00 - will be invested together with AVSI in new activities that will continue to ensure a brighter future for all the children we support at a distance."

"The Social Award of the Colam Sustainability Awards confirms the importance and the need for the third sector to work together with the enterprises. The long-standing collaboration with Sacchi Group has helped AVSI achieve results of great impact in numerous cooperation and humanitarian aid projects over the years. We are grateful and proud to have received this award with the Distance Support, a project capable of accompanying children, their families and their communities in the path of training, growth and development," notes Giampaolo Silvestri, AVSI secretary general.

In 2019, 9 Sacchi employees were given the opportunity to meet the children the company sponsors, becoming Ambassadors of Sacchi Group in the world. They spent five days in Uganda, getting to know the children and AVSI's stuff, to experience firsthand what is being done in the schools and villages of this reality apparently far away, but at the same time so close.
