What a lovely Place.
Oh! Somalia, a lovely place
A diamond in one hundred stones
The Blue in Indian Ocean
Let our hearts be one
Strength and unity
Peace!
Peace! Peace!

AVSI has been working in favor of the Somali population since 2009, through interventions for the Somali refugees at the Dadaab camp in Kenya (established in 1992). AVSI is active in the construction and rehabilitation of schools, but also in the training of teachers with the hope that one day they can go back to Somalia with more competencies to offer to their community.

Thanks to the U.S. government (PRM funds), AVSI is implementing a project in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Somalia and Kenya for the elaboration of guidelines for the recognition of the level of education and diplomas of the students and teachers formed in Dadaab, who wish to return to Somalia.

In the Southern region of Lower Juba, AVSI has implemented a project in favor of 20.000 people regularly hit by drought with a response to immediate needs (foodstuff, hygiene kit, cash for work, water tanks), building and strengthening their capabilities; the intervention is realized in collaboration with the local partner WRRS and funded by AICS.
